Keywords for your company
First, you should always start by researching the keywords for the logo project. Either a single name or a tag line, you can even go for multiple keywords that you think are suitable for your company logo.
After doing the keyword research, you can use some of those keywords and create a rough sketch of a logo, don’t think about creating it so accurately. Create 4-5 design ideas and shape as per the concept of your company.
Making your Sketch Digital
After you finalize any sketch, you can digitize the sketch by live tracing, which is the most straightforward technique. Open photoshop & by using pen and ink, You need to draw your logo with black or dark color lines and make it very accurate as its not a rough sketch anymore.
Now, when you are happy with the design open Illustrator and open, create a new CMYK document. Here you need to import your image by clicking File > Place, or you can also drag-drop your image to the artboard.
After that, you need to click on Image Trace on the top toolbar. It will open the Image Trace Panel, and from there, you need to select the options that work best for you.
You can try the threshold slider, which will make your image lighter or darker and bold.
After that, you can select the image & click export on the top toolbar. Now you will have your logo with all individual elements and you can change the position of those as per your need.
